Working closely with the National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Oregon Public Health Institute, and the Health Impact Project, the Georgia Health Policy Center established relationships with prioritized federal agencies (Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Department of Transportation (DOT) and Department of Defense (DOD)) to support their understanding and use of HIA; assist prioritized agencies with HIA trainings, convene stakeholders, scope health pathways and data indicators, and other HIA steps as needed. Specific projects identified to date include:
- A Health in All Policies training for a Vermont community that is a recipient of HUD’s Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant
- Assist EPA Region 4 with a Health Impact Assessment of a green infrastructure plan for a creek area currently experiencing problems due to flooding
- Assist the Federal Transit Administration and the Georgia DOT in incorporating a Health Impact Assessment into the Environmental Impact Statement for the Georgia Multi-Modal Passenger Terminal (MMPT)
