The Georgia Health Policy Center (GHPC) is proud to release its latest Story of Impact highlighting the center’s ongoing support for the Georgia Cancer Control Consortium (GC3).
For more than 20 years, GHPC has worked with GC3 to unite the state’s governmental agencies, public health, universities, health care providers, community organizations, and survivor groups around the common goal of reducing the number of cancer-related deaths in Georgia. GHPC plays a pivotal role in facilitating workgroups and providing research support for the state’s Comprehensive Cancer Control plans, in addition to supporting implementation of consortium initiatives along the cancer control continuum, evaluation design, and needs assessments.
“Dollars usually fuel participation and cooperation. But there is just not a lot of money in this,” James Hotz, M.D., co-chair of the GC3 steering team. “We don’t get paid for participating. The skills of Chris and his team at GHPC have somehow been able to keep us together for all of these years as a coalition of the willing. I do not think there would be effective cancer planning in the state without GHPC.”
GHPC has directly impacted the lives of people in local communities across the country and the globe. Through its research, evaluations, policy analysis, technical assistance, convenings, and trainings, the center has lived its mission to advance health and well-being in thousands of local communities. GHPC’s Stories of Impact series highlights the scope and impact of the center’s work, the amazing partners we work with, and the people who are touched by the work of our dedicated staff.
