At the start of the year, we planned to commemorate this milestone with 25 activities including a speaker & film series, staff appreciation events, community & service opportunities, cosponsored partner events, and a capstone reception. We were able to host nine events through early 2020 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. In an effort to assist our partners and community during this unprecedented time, we decided to shift the energy of our anniversary work to focus on what is needed now.
- GHPC is providing clear, practical resources; responding to client requests; and facilitating important strategic conversations about the impact of COVID-19. Visit our COVID-19 Section of the website for our Online Series Finding Innovation and Resilience During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the COVID Collection, and COVID-19 Resource Center.
- Researchers are studying the disparities illuminated by the pandemic, examining racial COVID-19 disparities occurring in Georgia, exploring some of the drivers of these differences, and assessing current practices and opportunities for closing the gap.
- The center is building on its long history of work of improving access to health and health care, identifying the root causes of these disparities, and addressing health from a systemic perspective. We take a broad view of health, examining all systems, policies, and upstream factors influencing well-being, and looking for inclusive, cross-sector, and transformative solutions to achieve health equity.
Our original goals and approach to our work remain the same. GHPC is committed to honoring our 25-year history by giving back to partners and the community. By working together, we can make a difference.
