A Theory of Change for Aligning Health Care, Public Health, and Social Services in the Time of COVID-19, recently published by GHPC researchers in the American Journal of Public Health, highlights how the core components of cross-sector alignment along with the principles of community voice and health equity can be used to design interactions among health care, public health, and social services that better meet the goals and needs of the people and communities they serve in a way that is built to last.>>
What are the factors that influence the sustainability of grant-funded programs? The Georgia Health Policy Center conducted a study of grantees of Health Resources and Services Administration’s Federal Office of Rural Health Policy to see if there were certain factors that predict long-term sustainability.>>
GHPC researcher Debra Kibbe helped to author the recently released American Cancer Society Guideline for Diet and Physical Activity for Cancer Prevention. Importantly, the guidelines highlight both the need for healthy behaviors to cut cancer risk and the need for community action to support individuals in achieving healthy diet and physical activity goals.>>
Researchers from GHPC and the Georgia State University School of Public Health assessed community readiness in four counties with active coalitions that were awarded a grant to further childhood obesity prevention efforts.>>
Integration of health and human services can play a critical role in caring for people with co-occurring social needs and poor health. But more research is needed to determine the effectiveness of integration, the best ways to implement integrated programs, and their long-term sustainability.>>
