Book Talk with Karen Kruse Thomas, author of Deluxe Jim Crow
In the public mind, the history of civil rights is dominated by school desegregation and sit-ins. Segregation also shaped hospitals, medical schools, and public health clinics, which were important sites of civil rights activism. Why was health the only place that federal policy formally sanctioned separate but equal? How did the story play out in Atlanta and Baltimore—both known for their academic health centers, racial and economic divisions, and traditions of black health activism? What can history teach us about improving health disparities in 2017?

Date: Wednesday, November 8, 2017
Time: 4 - 5:30 p.m.
Location: College of Law, 85 Park Place NE, Room 341

The book will be available for purchase and signing. RSVP.
