- Biography
Michelle Marcus is a specialist in Health in All Policies and the health impact assessment (HIA) method of collaborative policy analysis.
As a senior research associate at the Georgia Health Policy Center (GHPC), she conducts HIAs and provides HIA technical assistance and training. Recently, she led an HIA of the state of Georgia’s 2015 Qualified Allocation Plan for Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, leading to health-supportive changes in the way tax credits are awarded. She served on the provisional steering committee that formed the Society of Practitioners of HIA and currently chairs the Atlanta BeltLine Tax Allocation District Advisory Committee (TADAC).
Marcus’s other work at GHPC includes quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis to support community health needs assessments. Her expertise includes community-based participatory research, health promotion, chronic disease, environmental health, and mental health, as well as competency in transportation and land use, housing, greenspace, water, and community development.
