Assessing for Impact: Key Elements to Successful Group Mentoring at the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta
The U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ’s), National Institute of Justice and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA) are interested in understanding the effectiveness of group mentoring for youth in a community-based program, including for youth who participate in BGCMA’s Teen Center model. Findings are expected to inform the field at-large across juvenile justice and other child-serving systems that offer youth mentoring programming.
The Georgia Health Policy Center conducted an evaluation, comparing outcomes for youth who received DOJ-funded mentoring in addition to BGCMA’s standard youth programming and activities. The mixed methods evaluation included retrospective data analysis, along with qualitative data collection via key informant interviews with BGCMA staff and focus groups with youth.
