Housing and Healthy Aging
Health and housing are known to be interrelated systems. With funding from the National Network of Public Health Institutes under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Georgia Health Policy Center is supporting an effort to better understand evidence-informed policy and practice that enhances health-promoting housing opportunities for older adults living in U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development- (HUD-) supported housing.
Researchers from the Georgia Health Policy Center (GHPC) are undertaking an environmental scan employing a systems-driven approach. Through collecting, synthesizing, and contextualizing available evidence on what works to support successful aging for older adults in HUD-supported housing, researchers will identify and prioritize opportunities for stronger alignment between health and housing perspectives at the federal level. GHPC and partners will facilitate collaborative interpretation of the these insights with an eye toward enhancing implementation of what works, elevating promising practices and emerging innovations, and identifying gaps in the evidence for future research.
