A Statewide Health Equity Initiative
A Statewide Health Equity Initiative
A Statewide Health Equity Initiative, with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Public Health, is supporting community-led initiatives and building public health capacity to fulfill a vision for Georgia that overcomes disparities, addresses social determinants of health, and advances equity.
Specifically, A Statewide Health Equity Initiative will build workforce capacity at the public health district level by coordinating training and capacity building support for health equity staff to meet the needs of local communities disproportionately affected by COVID-19 and facing associated equity concerns. The initiative will bring together a community of practice of public health district personnel across Georgia to foster learning and build momentum for widespread, impactful change. Additionally, the initiative will bring together advisors that will include academic researchers, community leaders, and rural providers.
