Study of Older Adult Transportation Services Needs in Georgia
Study of Older Adult Transportation Services Needs in Georgia
In 2018 the Georgia Department of Human Services’ Division of Aging Services contracted with the Georgia Health Policy Center in response to a request from the Georgia General Assembly to assess the current unmet transportation need for older adults across the state.
The assessment includes an environmental scan of the state and national context, analysis of currently available data by Department of Human Service planning and service region, and use of a recognized methodology to measure current and estimate future transportation needs. The report, At a Crossroads: Exploring Transportation for Older Georgians in a Rapidly Changing Landscape, provides findings regarding existing infrastructure and delivery of transportation services, considers future needs based on population projection data, and highlights promising practices that can be explored as opportunities to meet older adults’ unmet transportation needs in Georgia.
